A pencil pot is a simple thing until it tips over and spills everything across the desk. The fix is weight low down, so this one is woven with a doubled base and slightly thicker strips at the bottom rows.
Woven to stay upright
The whole pot is one continuous weave from base to rim, with no join where a separate bottom would be attached. The lower third is woven more tightly than the top, which keeps the centre of gravity low and stops the pot from wobbling.
