Coasters fail in one of two ways: they are too thin to catch condensation, or too thick to let a mug sit level. These are woven to about a centimetre thick, which turns out to be the point where both problems disappear.
Woven in matching sets
Each coaster is a small spiral of tight weave, finished with a tucked edge so there is no ridge underneath. We weave them four at a time from the same leaf so the tone matches across the set, then bind them with a length of cotton string.
